Defeat Covid-19 and Restart the Economy

Southwest Washington needs to get back to work. Our economy needs to heal. We must make difficult decisions about how to deal with the loss of revenue Covid-19 has created in the state budget. It's time to put to use the fiscally conservative approaches I've ascribed to my entire life.

Open and Honest Government

Government must be made more transparent - for example, we can no longer allow hiding places for "ghost" legislation to exist. We must respect the Constitution and demand transparency in Olympia.

Financial Responsibility

Reckless spending has become commonplace in Olympia. We must carefully fund within reasonable budget forecasts and must always respect the will of the voters. Simply put, that's the job of a Legislator.

The 19th Legislative District is NOT Seattle

We deserve to be treated as what we are - a largely rural district with more conservative approaches to every part of governing. We're not Seattle....and don't want to be Seattle.

WHY I WEAR A MASK WHEN I CAN NOT

"SOCIAL DISTANCE"

The photo below is of a local business...barricaded tables, and empty seats...not good for our economy. If wearing a mask can keep people working and provide businesses with revenue to stay afloat I must lead and support these people.

Wearing a mask is my way of being respectful to all the workers that go to work, and must wear a mask to keep their jobs....worker solidarity.

Business owners are under the threat of penalties if the public does not enter wearing a mask. We need to patronize our local businesses to help them survive this pandemic. I support businesses as they drive our economy. Respect business in these trying times.

Seniors are vulnerable, respect our elders.

Wearing a mask when I can not safely distance is not me agreeing with our Governor...we all can deal with this at the ballot box. Vote this November...vote for common sense!

So when you see me in a photo with a mask on, when I cannot socially distance, it is my way of respecting workers and businesses...not our Governor.

My promise is to speed economic recovery...and I will support local businesses and those workers that must earn an income to survive.

PAY PER MILE TAX? NO!

The Pay Per Mile Tax is not good policy for the 19th Legislative District. As your next State Senator I would vehemently oppose taxes such as this... that unfairly target businesses and rural communities.

We need Common Sense principles applied in the State Legislature. As your State Senator I would represent your best interests... Not those of Seattle. Our current State Senator, Dean Takko, has previously sponsored bills, such as SB 5971, which would create a Carbon Fee (Tax) and would have increased gas taxes and other fees.

If you elect me as your State Senator I would unequivocally support the Taxpayer first and NOT support bad bills that invade your privacy and your pocketbook.

WE ARE NOT SEATTLE.....

Once again, Seattle "style" politics.

My campaign is all about NOT supporting any income taxes, and increased gains taxes! With unemployment over 16 percent in some areas of the 19th district, and 50,000 taxpayers still have not been processed thru Employment Security I would offer up to those businesses that need a place to relocate from Seattle...check out the beautiful counties, Grays Harbor, Cowlitz, Pacific, Lewis and Wahkiakum!

We have talented people that work hard, play hard, and have pride in their communities. I welcome the opportunity to serve the 19th Legislative District as your next State Senator, and pledge to be a "no" vote on Gains or Income Tax.

NEW TAXES? NO!

Once again, Seattle "style" politics.  (Click to hear about Seattle's newest tax)

THE 19th DISTRICT AND COVID-19

Our family and others throughout the 19th district are feeling that the Governor’s plan to restart fall short where rural Washington is concerned.

The virus is real and so is the science used to mitigate such risks. The rural communities from Grays Harbor to Cowlitz County have shown encouraging data and should not be placed alongside data from Seattle.

Our Governor should be working alongside our local officials to create opportunities to lessen the devastation to our economic life here in SW Washington. Requiring businesses to submit a plan to reopen, and safeguard workers and customers, is paramount ...yet once a plan is submitted when will the “government” give a yes or no answer? How long can a business survive while waiting for permission from our Governor? During this Pandemic we have watched prisoners released into local communities without complete notification to local authorities. Yet citizens faced possible fines and consequences if caught fishing, and other restricted activities.

Those that can safely return to work should, and those that choose to remain sheltered in place should not be ridiculed. Rural Washington needs to be respected, the will of the people insured.

Time for change and strong leadership to represent us...I will ask for your vote, in the primary and again in November.
